Great stuff Amanda! This is a HUGE Ritual for me each and everyday. I actually listen to you, Katie and Jonathan (many others also, but you are the top three that come to my mind) as I am cleaning my house, getting ready for the day, putting away laundry… whatever I have to do that is a true mindless task I allow all of yours and many others training to absorb into my mind and heart.
So happy you shared this as it has been a saving grace for me! I work on personal growth each and everyday because of this wonderful Technique! Too cool girl!

Good stuff, this particular way of making more efficient use of memory whilst doing jobs you normally do on auto-pilot is referred to as “Chunking” by Robert Pagliarini in “The Other 8 Hours” – check it out. Myself, during the day job spend quite a bit of time waiting for measurements to run so I do stretching and say my affirmations, I also do this whilst walking the dogs and I take time to sing during my morning commute, it’s amazing how a bit of vocal release can up your vibration! I recently took on a Blackberry but in the Rural UK (Where I live) the speed and reliability of internet connection on a mobile (Cell phone) whilst moving around is pretty pathetic so I couldn’t really entertain listening to streamed video or audio come to that. Podcasts would probably work but I have not got round to that yet. Audio books are dead good in the car I must get some!

This may sound silly, but I hadn’t even thought of using my Blackberry to listen to audio books! It hadn’t occurred to me that I could hook a speaker up to it either! I am super excited about using these new tips. As always, you are improving my life…Thank You!

Some pretty good ideas you have there and a couple that I wasn’t aware of.
I have found that I have to schedule my day with a list to follow, so I can train myself. I am thinking that in time these daily tasks will become more natural for me.

Amanda,
Using the techniques you’ve mentioned here are imperative to my personal development! I have so much laundry to fold that it would be a crime to not have an audio book or blog post video playing along side as I stand there matching socks.
It’s important to remember that ten minutes here and ten minutes there absolutely adds up. We are all responsible for stretching our minds every day. Great post!

@Elizabeth, glad to hear it! Yep, we definitely need to stretch our minds each and every day! I appreciate your input!
July 20th, 2010 at 4:59 pm
Hey Amanda,
I absolutely love that you brought this up because I find that so many people tend to have the excuse, “Oh there isn’t enough time in the day to do personal development” or “Oh I’ll just do it on the weekend”
Something that has been extremely powerful for me is I’ve literally turned my car into a mobile university and I am constantly listening to educational audio programs. I believe that we all need to feed our minds on a daily basis because as Jim Rohn says, “If you plant the seeds in the spring and leave in the summer, the weeds will take the garden.”
Great stuff Amanda! Thanks so much for sharing this

I USED to always listen to personal or business growth stuff on my iPod. In fact, the last back up took 3 DVDs and most of it was pod casts or other audios for growth. Thanks to your message, I will start this practice again. Thanks, Amanda for always providing timely information for our growth.

Amen Amanda!
I am right with you on this, I’ve started doing the same thing. It’s that along with a handsfree headset phone that I can use to make calls in addition to listening to audios while I am folding laundry, doing dishes, sweeping the porch, etc. These mindless activities are perfect for active listening (like phone calls) where I might rather listen to personal development audios while driving so I can divert my attention quickly.
Our time is priceless, take advantage of every moment!
Thanks for your value and insights!

Amanda. I came across your site today. This video was perfect for my present situation – I have a grow number of unproductive non-work todo’s and I am taking those times to listen to as many podcasts and videos as possible. Would love to create that 25th hour in the day if you can figure out a way. I look forward to your future posts. Thanks,
