If you are using social media as a marketing tool, I’m sure you’ve probably heard everyone talking about tribes. If you haven’t…start tuning in because they are CHANGING the social media marketing game!

In this post I am going to show you EXACTLY how a tribe community functions and how to put it to work for you, both maximizing your content-creation efforts and multiplying your online presence in a few simple steps.

Step #1: Create Valuable Content

Valuable content is where the road starts and stops. Content is KING. All content should be created from a giving state of mind.

What does that mean? Follow the 4 E’s. Good content should be Educational, Empowering, Entertaining, or Enlightening…in other words, give your readers/viewers something of value. A quick how-to guide, a top 10 list, a story about a personal lesson you’ve learned, or an interview with a leader in your niche are all examples of content that gives your readers/viewers value.

What you don’t want, is content that comes from a  taking state of mind. Content that pitches people on the newest product or service you are selling is NOT going to get any support in a tribe community. Remember… you are building your PERSONAL brand that will serve you for a lifetime… your followers will love you for YOU, not for the product or service you are promoting.

Make your content available to your tribe, and remember, it will be shared most when it is authentic and value-packed!

Step #2: Re-syndicate Others Content In The Community That You Enjoy

The more you give, the more you get. That goes for a tribe community as well. You can’t expect people to go crazy syndicating your material if you are never sharing anyone else’s.

You’ve got to get involved in the community, find out about your tribe members, figure out who you have the most in common with, and be sure to show them some syndication LOVE by sharing their content with your social media network. You also want to be leaving comments on their blog posts if you expect to get any on your own!

So far, if you have followed my suggestions in Steps 1 & 2 you will be well on your way to setting yourself apart as a true leader within your tribe… and people will appreciate your leadership.

Step #3: Have Your Content-Creation Efforts Maximized And Your Online Presence Multiplied

This is the EXCITING part! …and providing you’ve followed steps 1 & 2, this part of the process WILL happen for you! It is now time for your tribe community buddies to share YOUR content with THEIR social media networks. This is where the big traffic comes from.

You’ve obviously put alot of time and effort into creating super-valuable content so it’s only natural that you would want to maximize that effort. Here is exactly how that is going to work:

Let’s say you have 2,000 friends on Facebook and 3,000 Twitter followers. That is a total of 5,000 people in YOUR social media network.

Now let’s say 10 people within the tribe community share your content and 5 of them also average 5,000 people in their social networks. Since 5,000 is a low estimate though, let’s say the other 5 average 10,000 people in their social media networks.

5 people × 5,000 followers= 25,000 possible viewers

5 people × 10,000 followers= 50,000 possible viewers

Grand total = 75,000 possible viewers of your content!

Your valuable content has just gone from being limited to the 5,000 people in your immediate circle to 75,000 thanks to re-syndication efforts by your tribe. Is that AWESOME or what!?

With the massively increased visibility of your content will come massively increased traffic to your website. This traffic increase could provide you with more leads, affiliate commissions, and more exposure to any other business opportunities you present.

Hopefully, now you have a deeper understanding of exactly how a tribe community works.  By following the three simple steps I have laid out, you can see how it is not only possible but probable that you will maximize your content-creation efforts and multiply your online presence in a short amount of time.

Hey Amanda, you are right on with the tribes and syndication! The first time I was introduced to this concept I knew it was going to be absolutely huge for both online and brick and mortar businesses. I have been involved in several “tribes” over the past 5 months and have seen my numbers triple – it is absolutely amazing. Also the friendships and contacts you make with people is unbeatable. I absolutely love it.

Thank you for sharing this concept – I know many people will benefit from being involved in a tribe. Can’t wait for Monday!

Tribes just work. Plain and simple. There is no way that one person can muster the power that a committed tribe can produce. It’s a win-win for everyone who’s actively involved.

    Great post Amanda!

    Hey Amanda,
Could you do me a small favor…….break down the tribe concept in a simplistic way…….to quote Denzel from ‘Philadelphia’ “could you treat me like I’m a 10 year old? (lol, i think that’s the quote)

I have never heard of the tribe concept….what is it? how do you find tribe’s? what value beside’s the above do they have, if any? (looks like the above is enough, but just wondering), etc……..

Thanks and I enjoy your stuff

    Thanks

  9. Ken Pickard Says:

    Amanda,

Great post on Tribes and what the Unified Tribe brings to the table is genius. The 3 steps you outlined are right on as it starts with valuable content, both yours and theirs. People want to syndicate good content to show their appreciation for their fellow marketer and to pass it back to their communities or followings. It’s all about sharing.

There’s other benefits for the syndication alliances too. When tribes get together on a weekly basis to share ideas and to syndicate each others content, there’s an accountability factor that comes into play. If I know several people will be coming by by blog to share my content, I want to make sure I have something new.

There’s also the possibility of business partners. If you have a networking company you promote one of your tribe members my see you actively working it and may ask you questions about it. You didn’t even need to pitch them. There’s also the possibility of joint venture programs. Maybe you found someone in one of these communities like The Unified Tribe and you really connected with them. You could form a partnership and agree to create a product together.

You never know what could come from a couple of good relationships with people who pay it forward.

    Glenn, couldn’t agree more! Thanks!

Hey Joe! Nice movie quote there! :) Gotta love Denzel. Well basically a tribe is a group of people who all produce blog posts, articles, or videos as part of their marketing strategies that you get together. As a group you share one another’s content with your Facebook friends, your Twitter followers, and any other social media accounts you have. There might be 5 people in a tribe or many more.

Having other people guarunteed to share your content helps you get more exposure in the social media world which results in more traffic and leads on your website (usually a blog). You can reread my post above where I explain how sharing your content just within your own social media accounts might result in 5,000 people seeing it for example, but when you have a tribe working with you it would be seen by as many as 75,000. Tribes also keep you accountable for creating fresh, valuable content for them to share and you can create some extremely valuable relationships with your tribe-mates. If you have any other questions feel free to email me at amandamarieblog@gmail.com. Stay tuned because Monday you will find out exactly where there is a tribe to join. :)

Hey Ken! Thanks for stopping by and leaving your oh so valuable input! Accountability and relationships are definitely two very important aspects of a tribe! Just didn’t get a chance to mention them in the actual post! :) I look forward to being tribe-mates for a long time to come!

Therese, thanks for your input girl! I know your tribe will be successful because of the tremendous positive energy and giving spirit you have! That’s what it’s all abaout… helping others!

  13. Amanda Says:

Hey Val! Glad you enjoyed the tips. There is definitely a huge difference between inspired and uninspired content…and your right, it does show through! The more valuable and passionate your content is the more excited your tribe will be to share it with everyone they know!

    Amanda Reply:

Hey Mars! I agree that 75,000 people won’t necessarily view the content, but the potential is there… still much great than 5,000!

Tribe syndication looks very powerful and is very interesting.

One thing that I wonder about is how much of that traffic is targeted to your blog niche? I’d be very interested if you had some stats to share of the breakdown of the traffic. To me, targeted traffic, is much better than tons of bulk traffic.
